HUDSON – A 19-year-old Hudson man is facing felony charges after a weekend shooting on Robinson Road, and police expect to make at least one more arrest. Police arrested Shawn Melanson, 19, of 172 Robinson Road, on Tuesday and charged him with reckless conduct, a felony, and false report to law enforcement in connection with the Dec. 8 shooting at 172 Robinson Road that sent a man to the hospital. Melanson is accused of “recklessly handling” a .45-caliber handgun while seated on a bed next to Andres Lopez when the gun went off, hitting Lopez in the left leg, according to court documents filed Tuesday. Melanson also was charged with misleading police and telling them an “unknown person” shot Lopez on Robinson Road, according to court documents. Hudson Police Chief Jason Lavoie declined to release other details about the shooting, including how many people were in the house and what led to the shooting. Melanson was arraigned at Nashua district court Tuesday; he will appear there again on Dec. 26 for a probable cause hearing, according to court documents. Lavoie said police recovered the gun involved and said the shooting happened inside the home. Police have identified at least one other suspect, but still have investigating to do, as well as consultation with the Hillsborough County attorney’s office, before more charges could be filed. The victim, whose name police did not release, has been released from Massachusetts General Hospital, police said. Police were called to Southern New Hampshire Medical Center in Nashua early Saturday morning after a 20-year-old man was treated there for a gunshot wound to his leg. He was later transferred to the Boston hospital, police said.
