Jeff Lunn and C.J. Boykin both battled foul trouble on Friday night, but the Bishop Guertin duo still managed to score 24 and 17 points respectively as the Cardinals opened the season with a big road win, 89-74. Junior forward Andrew Williams added 16 for the Cardinals, who got eight points each from freshman forward Charles Olivieri and sophomore guard Kyle Gavin. The Cardinals led 10-0 early, 20-6 after one and 42-24 at halftime before Bedford used a 30-point third quarter to get back in the game, cutting the lead to four on a pair of Sam Thomas free throws early in the fourth quarter. But the Cardinals never stopped putting points on the board, using a 29-point fourth quarter to put it away. “I liked our intensity,’’ Bishop Guertin coach Jim Migneault said. “The youth started showing a little in the third quarter, but it took a lot out of them to come back and we still had fresh legs in the fourth quarter.’’ Bedford got 26 points from junior guard Cameron Meservey. Thomas (14), James Caparell (13) and Jacob Capistran (10) were also in double figures for the Bulldogs. At Bedford BISHOP GUERTIN (89) Jeff Lunn 10-4-24, C.J.
