Did you ever wonder what happens when you so generously donate cash to the Santa Fund?
Here’s the journey of a $250 donation.
Like all of the money donated, 100 percent goes directly to the purchase of new toys, clothes, gifts and gift cards for groceries to make a holiday meal. We love and appreciate the new toys and clothes you also donate, but cash is essential to make sure the more than 1,000 families registered for Santa Fund presents and a holiday meal this year receive them.
The Santa Fund was founded in 1962 by the publisher of The Telegraph to provide a happy holiday for needy children in the community. The Salvation Army and the Front Door Agency, formerly the Nashua Pastoral Care Center, partner with The Telegraph to register families and distribute gifts and food vouchers for the Santa Fund.
But someone has to do the shopping.
Often, it’s the staff and helpers at these agencies who, before or after shopping for their own families, go out and spend hours shopping for those families in need.
