TYNGSBOROUGH, Mass. – If Saturday’s 4-3 dramatic Bishop Guertin High School win over Nashua North at Skate 3 Arena proved anything, this is going to be a very competitive Division I hockey season.
“I don’t think anything’s going to come easy for anyone in the state,” Guertin coach Gary Bishop said, his 2-0 team getting the win with Evan Dalaker’s rebound goal with 21.7 seconds left.
It was a game for the hard-working, and each team had a player to set the pace: Dalaker for BG, as he had two goals, his first being a shorthanded tally in the second, and North had William Lorranger, who tied the game at 5:26 of the third to help bring the Titans (0-2) all the way back from a 3-1 deficit.
“I’m proud of our guys,” North coach Dan Legro said. “I think we’re doing good things. It will be some mental repair in the locker room immediately, but hopefully they got a taste of what they can do and use that in the future.”
“The rebound just came right to me after a great shot from the point,” Dalaker, a junior from New Boston, said.
