MONT VERNON – State police investigators spent Monday at 15 Pond Road, gathering evidence and conducting interviews as they piece together events that led to a police officer shooting a reportedly suicidal man Sunday night, officials said. Assistant attorney general Jane Young said Geoffrey Bidwell, 42, of 15 Pond Road remained in stable condition Monday at a Massachusetts hospital, the name of which she didn’t disclose. Young said Bidwell was first taken to a local hospital, but didn’t specify which one, before being transferred to Massachusetts. Attorney General Michael A. Delaney said earlier Monday that Bidwell was shot “during an interaction with police” after local and state police were called to 15 Pond Road for a report of a suicidal male, later identified as Bidwell. Pond Road, a short loop off Route 13 about a half-mile north of the Route 13-Francestown Turnpike intersection, remained closed through Monday. The Bidwell home is the first residence on the northern end of Pond Road and is visible from Route 13.
