The addition of a behavior paraeducator at Fairgrounds Middle School was first brought up at the board’s Finance and Operations Committee meeting last week, when Superintendent Mark Conrad said the position would help the school’s new administrators get a better handle on behavior issues. The school’s principal, Mike Harrington, is new this year, while the assistant principal has been at the school for only two years. “Anytime you get new administration in the building, they’re looking at the needs of their school and seeing what they can do differently to improve the environment,” Conrad said, according to meeting minutes. “Mr. Harrington is looking at both the academic and behavioral environment for students.
