NASHUA – A group of community stakeholders hopes Nashua’s so-called Tree Streets will grow a little greener in the near future. Community gardens, they say, are the key to building pride in downtown Nashua neighborhoods, to turn some negative loitering into “good guy” loitering, and to grow some fresh vegetables in Main Street’s backyard. “A garden requires a certain number of things,” said French Hill resident and community organizer Paul Shea. “Space, soil, water, sun and work, and if you can find those things and you can bring those things together, then you can garden. It’s not a terribly difficult thing to do, you just have to know what’s required or have a hand at getting started.” That’s what Visualize Nashua’s January “social hour” hopes to provide. Seasoned gardeners and curious amateurs are welcome to attend the meeting to discuss a downtown community garden, from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
