If you see me later this week, and you want to say hello, you might want to think twice.
If all goes according to plan, I will be in the middle of another detox week, and if it’s anything like last year’s week, I won’t be a pleasant person.
The plan is to once again follow the detox food plan I learned about at the start of the “90 Day Commit to Get Fit” program at Hampshire Hill, which means cutting out certain staples of my daily diet, like cheese and bread and, dread the thought, coffee.
When I did this for the first time, two years ago, I weaned myself off caffeine leading up to the week, and was fine. The lone craving I had was cheese, which struck me as a bit odd. Last year, I just stopped with the coffee altogether, and the results were borderline disastrous.
I got headaches and cravings, and after a few days, my body ached in too many places. Grumpy would have been the nicest possible way to describe me.
But like anything difficult, the reward was worth the hard work.
