Bishop Guertin girls ice hockey team on roll

TYNGSBOROUGH, Mass. – There’s an interesting hockey team to keep an eye on at Bishop Guertin High School this winter, and believe it or not, it might not be the Cardinal boys squad. Coach Gary Bishop’s unit dropped below .500 in Division I on Saturday with a 3-1 loss to Concord. The team to really watch right now is the Cardinal girls team, which methodically handled the Crimson Tide 6-2 in the doubleheader nightcap at Skate 3 Arena. In snapping a two-game losing streak, the Guertin girls are now 7-3 on the season, and while they haven’t been able to crack that Hanover-Lebanon domination of the sport (two losses to Hanover, one to Lebanon), they’ve had little trouble with anyone else and are putting the puck in the net at a pretty good clip. “We didn’t play well last game against Lebanon,” Cards coach Myia Yates said. “So when we put the puck in the net and moved the puck, it was good to see that.
