NASHUA – The chief executive officer of St. Joseph Hospital has resigned abruptly and is returning to his home in Missouri to deal with family medical problems.
David Ross, who was hired in May 2010 to lead the 208-bed hospital, stepped down immediately, according to a statement released Monday. The hospital said that Ross needed “to attend to personal family matters.”
Ross told The Telegraph that a series of significant family medical problems led to the decision and declined to comment further.
Ross will be replaced as interim CEO by James Hamill, who served as CEO of Meritus Health, a Maryland hospital, from 2000-11.
