HOLLIS – There were a number of things the Hollis Brookline High School boys basketball team wasn’t doing during its last four games, but the key to all of it was defense.
The Cavaliers stepped it up on the defensive side Tuesday night and their offense followed along, as HB rolled past Pelham 54-35 to snap a two-game losing streak.
PJ Flaum led the Cavs (6-3 in Division II) with 20 points, 18 of which came from behind the 3-point line, and HB outscored the Pythons 21-2 over a nine-minute stretch in the first half. Pelham turned the ball over five times in that span and finished the game with 16 turnovers.
“I think our defensive effort was pretty good and we shot the ball well, at least in the first half,” HB coach Mike Soucy said. “That was really a positive sign. If you go back three weeks, we’ve been flat and not coming out of the gate strong.
