NASHUA – The death of the young man whose body was found beneath the railroad trestle behind Merrimack Farmers Exchange on Wednesday afternoon is likely a suicide, police said. Lt. Mike Moushegian said the incident is being investigated as a self-inflicted hanging, but police will await a medical examiner’s report to make an official ruling. The man, who Moushegian said was 21 years old and a Nashua resident, apparently hanged himself from the trestle, a triple railroad truss bridge that spans the Nashua River just west of its confluence with the Merrimack River. Moushegian said an unidentified passerby called police after discovering the man’s body. Police, firefighters and AMR ambulance personnel arrived at the Farmers Exchange, 38 Bridge St., then made their way to the site on foot while other crews approached the bridge from the end of Sanders Street. Brian Lawrence said he stopped at the Farmers Exchange to pick up a few things when police suddenly came in. “They asked if anyone had called about a hanging,” said Lawrence, whose family ran the former downtown shop Cameraland.
