The Ravens?
We should have known, right?
Maybe a lot of you already did, based on the way they pushed the New England Patriots around in the second half of the AFC Championship Game.
But if you go back to mid-December, no one thought Baltimore was a Super Bowl Championship caliber team. They had lost three straight, and by some not-so-pretty scores either.
But the history of the Ravens shows us that they win when they are always counted out, and on the Night The SuperDome Lights Went Out, the Baltimore still had all the power it needed to survive and post a 34-31 win.
What looked like a potential blowout was a game that didn’t disappoint.
When they captured their first Super Bowl title back in January of 2001, they went in as a Wild Card and no one, even though they were solid defensively, picked them to win four games for a title. But they did.
Then, everyone thought the Ravens with Ray Lewis leading the way would be back for a few more. But that never happened.
