Nashua’s Office of Emergency Management will conduct two free public Community Emergency Response Team courses this spring.
The CERT program is an all-risk, all-hazard training designed to help residents protect themselves, their families and their neighborhoods in an emergency situation.
Participants will receive national certification and learn basic first aid, fire safety and family preparedness. There are no requirements or fees to join.
The courses also will cover basic search and rescue, an introduction to incident command and terrorism awareness. The hands-on interactive courses are taught by emergency management experts and are approved by the New Hampshire Division of Fire Standards and Training.
One course, hosted by Daniel Webster College, is open to students and the public. The first course will be offered March 21-April 30 every Tuesday and Thursday from 6:30-8 p.m., with one Saturday class on May 4 from 8:45 a.m.-5 p.m.
The second course will be three Saturdays – April 20 and 27 and May 4, from 8:45 a.m.-5 p.m.
