Betsy Garnick of Bishop Guertin High School set a state record for the third consecutive week, as she and almost two dozen other area athletes competed in the New England Regional track championship meet Saturday at Thornton Academy in Saco, Maine. Garnick came in second in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing in 14.09 seconds to place behind Vanessa Clerveaux of Brockton, Mass., and breaking the New Hampshire record she’d set the previous week at the Meet of Champions. Garnick first set the mark in the hurdles at the Division I meet on May 25, breaking the record of Oyster River’s Alison Poulin (14.52), which was set in 1988. Souhegan’s Isabella Stuopis also came in second in the shot put, throwing 40-feet, 11-inches, and the senior also took 12th in the discus. Milford’s Courtney Hawkins was 11th in the 1,600 and Nashua South’s Arashana Yanes was 11th in the long jump and 16th in both the 100 and 200. Brittney Lambert of Alvirne took 11th in the high jump and Hollis Brookline’s Emma Newton came in 21st in the 1,600 and 26th in the 3,200.
