TAMPA – Kevin Youkilis was looking for less drama than he had with the Red Sox.
So, naturally, he escaped to New York, the city that never sleeps, to play for the Yankees, the bull’s eye of baseball scrutiny, and replaced Alex Rodriguez, the biggest drama king in the game today.
In the belly of the beast, this ex-Red Sox has found his nirvana.

“As a player, you want to play baseball and you don’t want to deal with all the drama,” the clean-shaven Yankee sporting the black “Yankees Baseball” T-shirt said Tuesday. “(Last season) I felt like I was part of the drama and I didn’t like that at all. I didn’t want to be a part of it anymore in that sense because I knew drama only hurts the team and we weren’t playing well. It kept continuing, unfortunately, for all the fans and the Red Sox.![]()
