MERRIMACK – A convicted sex offender who has lived in Merrimack since his release from prison five years ago was arrested this week on multiple child pornography charges.
Keith Burns, 40, of 11 Camp Sargent Road, was charged by Merrimack police on Thursday afternoon with seven counts of child pornography and one count of certain uses of computer services prohibited, all felonies.
A joint investigation involved the Merrimack, Milford and Portsmouth police departments, along with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office in Oregon and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, police said.
Oregon authorities investigated a report that a 13-year-old girl in their state had been allegedly coaxed into sending nude photos of herself to a person she believed to be a teenage boy, police said.
Merrimack police determined the pictures were sent to a computer owned and used by Burns. Police searched his home Wednesday morning and arrested him Thursday afternoon, police said.
Burns was released from prison after serving five years. He was convicted of indecent exposure and lewdness in 2003 and two counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault in 1993 in Hillsborough County Superior Court, according to the state’s sex offender registry.![]()
