Forget the powerful prose of a 140-character tweet. Can you sum up your life in a six-word memoir? That’s what the Nashua Public Library is soliciting from area writers or literature aficionados for a chance to win $50 in gift cards to downtown eateries. According to the library’s website, the winner will be chosen based on clarity, originality, cleverness, and style by three writers and/or teachers of writing and literature. Here are the rules: Entries must be six words – no more, no fewer. All work must be original, unaided and not previously published. You may submit more than one entry. Entries must be submitted by April 1. The winner will be announced April 18. The library reserves the right to use entries for publication or promotional purposes. The library may post entries on its bulletin board, website or Facebook pages. Before the judging, no names will be posted with the memoirs; afterward, names of authors may be posted. Entrants must live in Nashua and be at least 18. Library employees aren’t eligible to enter, nor are judges or members of their immediate families. Entries will be submitted to the judges anonymously. – MARYALICE GILL
