NASHUA – Former Police Chief Donald Conley only worked a handful of hours for the city last year. Still, Conley, who stepped down at the end of 2011, earned nearly $80,000 in 2012, according to payroll documents. The vast majority of Conley’s income came from a severance package delivered upon his retirement, which included more than $56,800 in unused sick time and more than $18,900 in unused vacation time.
Conley, who took home $2,300 in regular wages in 2012, is far from the only city worker to benefit from such a severance package.
