HUDSON – Ted Luszey believes this will finally be the year the town gets a senior citizens center. “This is the best chance we’ve ever had,” said Luszey, a selectman. “I fully expect it to be approved.” At Town Meeting on Tuesday, residents will be asked to approve construction of a Senior Center/Cable TV facility in Benson Park. Attempts to approve a senior center have failed in past years. This year, the town is taking a novel approach by combining the center with the also-needed cable facility. The cable TV portion would be on the upper floor, while the seniors would have the bottom floor. The warrant article authorizes the town to withdraw nearly $845,000 from the Cable Access Center capital reserve and more than $512,000 from the Future Senior Center capital reserve funds, which were created for this purpose. The article also would allow the town to accept a donation of $303,500 from the Hudson Seniors Council on Aging for the construction of the building.
