The Bishop Guertin boys basketball team could be without their starting point in Tuesday night’s Division I semifinal game against Spaulding of Rochester at the University of New Hampshire in Durham.
Boykin, who had a career-high 22 points in Friday night’s 72-70 victory over Manchester Central, was arrested by Hudson Police on Saturday night and charged with reckless conduct.
Boykin allegedly threw and egg from a moving car that hit a police car. The driver of the car Boykin was in, Griffin Scanlon of Groton Ma., was going southbound on Derry Street in Hudson when the egg was thrown at the police car, which was approaching from the opposite direction.
Scanlon, the starting goalie for the Bishop Guertin hockey team this winter, was charged with criminal liability for the conduct of another.
As of 11 a.m., both Bishop Guertin athletic director Peter Palladino and basketball head coach Jim Migneault said a decision had yet to be made on whether Boykin would be eligible to participate in Tuesday night’s game.
Hudson police officer Scott McDonald pulled the car over and arrested the two suspects. In a published report, Hudson police said they considered the incident serious because throwing objects at a moving vehicle could result in “an accident resulting in serious bodily injury and or death.’’
The egg, which hit the driver’s side headlight, was washed off with no apparent damage to the car.
The Cardinals has some experience playing without Boykin, who missed the majority of the season with a shoulder injury.
