President Obama wins New Hampshire, supporters buckle down for long night

Supporters of President Barack Obama erupted in cheers late Tuesday night, as they learned Obama had been declared the winner in New Hampshire, earning him the state’s four electoral votes. The crowd of nearly 100 supporters and volunteers gathered at the Radisson Hotel in Manchester celebrated after news of Obama’s victory in the Granite State was reported by national news outlets. Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney both visited the Granite State in the days leading up to the election, an indication of just how crucial both campaigns thought the state could be in the outcome. “I never expected we’d see this, this early,” Alex Johnson, a supporter from Manchester, said as he celebrated in the hotel ballroom. “Nothing’s better than this.
