Voters across the region waited for as much as two hours to get through the lines at the polls Tuesday. Once they finally reached the voting booth, most didn’t need more than a few minutes to cast their ballots. Unlike past elections, when some voters waited until they got to the polls to make their choices, most knew whom they would be supporting weeks, months or even years before Election Day. For Tanya Quinlan, of Hudson, the struggling economy, which has been slow to recover, made her choice for Republican nominee Mitt Romney an easy one. “I knew all along I was going to vote for Romney. … What we’ve seen (from Obama) just isn’t working,” Quinlan said Tuesday as she left the polls. And, for Sally Abdulla, of Litchfield, the stark contrast between the candidates on social issues helped her make her decision at the start of the election. “The difference between them is just so big, I really didn’t need to think too hard about it,” said Abdulla, who voted for President Barack Obama.
