MERRIMACK – A local man was charged on Thursday with obstructing government operations after police say he failed to comply with a court order that he relinquish his firearms.
Scott Tierney, 33, of 86 Turkey Hill Road, was arrested on a warrant issued after police learned he still possessed a firearm after allegedly telling police on Tuesday that the weapon was in someone else’s possession.
Officers ordered Tierney to surrender his firearms on Tuesday while serving him with a temporary restraining order issued out of family court in Rochester, police said.
The order stipulated Tierney must relinquish all firearms. Police issued the arrest warrant for Tierney after discovering he still had the firearm, police said.
Police took custody of the firearm.
Tierney is free on $2,000 personal recognizance bail pending arraignment on March 28 in Merrimack district court.
