LITCHFIELD – The town of Litchfield will still have to implement the default budget for fiscal 2014 after Tuesday afternoon’s recount of the budget warrant only widened the margin of defeat.
This time around, the approximately $5 million budget was defeated by nine votes instead of the original four, according the town of Litchfield’s official Twitter account. The recount – conducted by Town Clerk Terri Briand and volunteers in town – came in with a tally of 609-600. The original count for the budget warrant issued election night was 601-597.
The town’s default budget comes in at $4.9 million.
