CONCORD – Charter schools waiting for approval will have to wait a while longer.
On Tuesday, the House Finance Committee voted to retain a bill for a year that would have helped to put an end to the moratorium on new schools.
The move – decided in a 14-9 vote along party lines, with all Democrats in the committee voting to retain – means that HB 299 will see no further action until November, when the committee will have to make some recommendation on it.
“There was a lot of confusion among the entire committee on how the bill was written,” said Finance Committee member Rep. Daniel Eaton (D-Stoddard).
