MERRIMACK – A spike in the property value of the Merrimack Premium Outlets played a role in the town lowering its tax rate by 22 cents from last year, officials reported Wednesday.
The 2012 tax rate has been set at $23.21 per $1,000 of assessed value. Last year’s rate came in at $23.43 per $1,000.
Council Chairman Tom Mahon said it was important for town and school officials to at least hold the line, but was pleased the rate was able to be lowered. The town’s portion of the new tax rate is $5.14 and the district’s consists of $14.56. The remaining amount is split between the state school tax which is $2.41 and county tax standing at $1.10.
