HUDSON – The Board of Selectmen learned this week that the proposed 2012 tax rate for Hudson should keep the average tax bill for single-family homes about the same as last year’s. The proposed tax rate is $19.95 per $1,000 of assessed value. Town administrator Steve Malizia said selectmen used $600,000 in reserve funds to offset the new tax rate. He told the board at a special budget meeting Monday that he didn’t recommend sending off the tax rate to Concord until budget discussions were finished. Selectman Thad Luszey said an average single- family home that paid approximately $5,000 in taxes last year should pay roughly the same amount for this year’s tax bill. This isn’t the case for commercial property owners because the reassessment of the town’s properties increased. The Board of Selectmen continued going through each department in alphabetical order, looking at the individual budgets Monday night, as they have in previous sessions.
