Andrews leads local All State picks

Milford High School’s Morgan Andrews, who led the Spartans to the Division II championship, heads the list of local on the All-State soccer teams released on Monday by the New Hampshire Soccer Coaches Association. Andrews is one of five local players on the Division I first team, joining teammate Dina Pitsas, the Souhegan duo of Peyton Kent and Agnes Chretien and Hollis Brookline’s Lindsey Vazquez. The only other area girl to earn first team honors was Campbell’s Casey Mellen in Division III. Hollis Brookline, which lost in the Division II boys final, placed three players on first team, seniors Andrew Cappetta, Jake Laurent and Connor Walsh. Sam Leedy of Souhegan also made the Division II first team. The only other area boys to earn first team honors was Campbell’s Ian Hutchinson. The Lions Cup teams were also announced Monday, with seven local seniors making the girls squad. Andrews is joined by teammate Kendra Bonczar, Hollis Brookline’s Erin Ackerly and Vazquez, Nashua South’s Marina McIntosh, Mellen and Chrietien. There will be three locals on the boys team, Cappetta, Laurent and Leedy. Girls chosen for second team recognition were Wilton-Lyndeborough’s Kim Edmunds, Souhegan’s Mikaela Sullivan and Bonczar. Two local boys were chosen to the Division I second team, Alec Watkinson of Merrimack and Teddy Claire of Bishop Guertin. Christien Beiter of Hollis Brookline made the Division II second team. Local girls cited for honorable mention in their division were McIntosh, Nashua North freshman Marie LaPlante, Alvirne’s Tori LaRoche, Hollis Brookline’s Kashka Gammon and Ackerly, Campbell’s Savannah Cavanaugh and Nicole Golden and Sami Bosquet of Wilton-Lyndeborough. Boys honorable mention picks from the area were Marcos Viera of Alvirne, Oisin McKenna of Nashua South, Milford’s Connor Gosselin, Hollis Brookline’s Cole Owens, Souhegan’s Matt Hopfenspirger and Campbell’s Tyler Guarino. Two area girls coaches were named coach of the year, Dan Wyborney of Nashua North and Dwayne Andreasen of Souhegan.
