NASHUA – Eric Momnie had his doubts about coming back as a varsity ice hockey assistant coach at Nashua High School South.
Not that he didn’t enjoy his one year under then-head coach John Vlachos. But with a 2-year-old at home and a newborn on the way, he wondered if he needed to be home more. After all, his spring was always taken up as an assistant lacrosse coach at Londonderry High School.
Then Vlachos resigned his hockey position, and when Momnie casually mentioned it to his wife, he was stunned by her response.
“She said, without even hesitation, ‘Oh, you have to (apply), absolutely,’ ” said the 29-year-old native of South Windsor, Conn. “Head coach is always what you want.
