Nashua man charged with forging checks

NASHUA – A local man has been charged with forging stolen checks, police said. Anthony Villegas, 57, of 3 Oak St., Apt. B, faces three counts of forgery, a Class B felony, police said. He was arrested shortly after noon Thursday, police said. On April 27, uniform police officers responded to a Nashua address for a reported burglary. Later, the burglary victim learned that some checks had been stolen and deposited at a local bank, police said. On further investigation, detectives identified the suspect as Villegas, police said. A Class B felony is punishable by up to seven years in prison, plus fines for each count, police said. Villegas was held at the Nashua Police Department, pending his arraignment scheduled for Friday at Nashua district court. – PATRICK MEIGHAN
