CONCORD (AP) - New Hampshire's attorney general says Windham police were justified in shooting a Pelham man who had led police on a high-speed chase and attempted to run down officers with his car.
Attorney General Michael Delaney said Thursday that the non-fatal shooting of 21-year-old Grant Hebert in October was reasonable and necessary to protect the officers and the public.
Delaney says Hebert led a Pelham officer on a high-speed chase into Windham, where he rammed into the police cruiser in an effort to get away.
When Windham officers attempted to apprehend him in a driveway, Hebert crashed through a gate and drove at the officers.
Two Windham officers fired at the car, which stopped Hebert.
Hebert was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
