Students, parents and other members of the Nashua community will be invited this week to weigh in on the safety of city schools. The Nashua Board of Education will host a public meeting Thursday addressing the school district’s emergency response plans, as well as upcoming changes to schools’ security systems. Mayor Donnalee Lozeau, Police Chief John Seusing and Justin Cates, the city’s emergency management director, will be among those at the meeting, to be held Thursday at Nashua High School North. “Our intent is to provide info to the public to assure them we do have emergency response plans in place, to give them an update on what we’re doing,” Superintendent Mark Conrad said Friday. “But, we also wanted to give parents and other concerned parties a chance to express their concerns and ask questions. We saw so many parents with concerns after what occurred in Newtown, we wanted to make sure they had a chance to be heard.” Before last month’s tragic shooting in Newtown, Conn., school district officials were planning a $2 million upgrade to the schools’ security system.
