HUDSON – An electric fan that caught fire in the basement of a Fairway Drive home Saturday night filled the house with smoke but caused no injuries or serious damage, fire department Captain Steve Gannon said.
Crews were called to the home of James and Christine McDowell, 27 Fairway Drive, around 8 p.m. Saturday, and upon entering the two-story home found heavy smoke conditions on the first floor, Gannon reported.
Firefighters traced the source to the basement, which was filled with heavy, black smoke caused by the burning fan, he said. Crews extinguished the small fire then turned their attention to ventilating the home.
Officials are investigating what caused the fan to catch fire, Gannon said.
The McDowells were home, he said, but had safely exited before firefighters arrived.![]()
