AMHERST – MORNING UPDATE: Town administrator James O’Mara is reportedly back working in Town Hall this morning. O’Mara’s executive assistant said Thursday that he was in the office, but not available at that time to speak with The Telegraph. More information to follow as it becomes available. Town administrator James O’Mara’s wallet hasn’t gotten any thinner even though he’s been on extended leave from Town Hall. O’Mara continues to receive his $93,000 annual salary since being placed on administrative leave in early December, a town selectman said Wednesday. Exactly how much O’Mara has been paid while he’s been out isn’t exactly known since selectmen haven’t pinpointed the date they sent O’Mara home. Minutes reveal no votes to suspend O’Mara with or without pay, although selectmen have said the decision to put him on administrative leave was unanimous. O’Mara earns about $1,800 a week from the town of Amherst.
