NASHUA – Nashua Fire Rescue quickly extinguished a one-alarm fire at a six-unit apartment, caused by the property owner attempting to thaw his frozen pipes with a plumber’s torch Saturday, Deputy Chief Mike O’Brien said.
The fire, which occurred around 1:20 p.m. at 18 Cedar St., was partially extinguished when 13 firefighters from Nashua’s Amherst Street and Crown Hill fire stations responded, O’Brien said.
The gentleman’s name was not known, but city records indicate 18-18½ Cedar St. is owned by Francis G. and Jane Wielgoszinski.
The fire stayed on the first floor of the apartment and caused some minor smoke damage to the second.
