By the numbers, the storm forecasters have named Luna is far from a whopper – but it does pack enough punch to slicken roadways throughout the region Monday evening and overnight.
In Nashua, all Biddy League games scheduled for Monday were postponed. Likewise, all school sports team practices were cancelled, while Nashua’s Board of Education meeting was postponed to Tuesday.
Public Works crews will be out treating roads Monday evening, as conditions are expected to become more slippery as the evening wears on.
Nashua emergency management director Justin Kates said event cancellations were made to minimize travel. Forecasters’ predictions that 2-3 inches of snow will fall across the region won’t necessitate a snow emergency, he said.
“It’s a relatively small event, in terms of accumulation,” Kates said, adding that the biggest impact will be the slippery driving conditions it causes.
Forecasters said the storm will wind down overnight and shouldn’t have a significant impact on the Tuesday morning commute. Temperatures in its wake will rise, with a high of near, or possibly above, 50 degrees possible for Wednesday.
