HUDSON – The sprinkler system at a local manufacturing firm did its job Saturday night when it quelled a fire in the building. But with nobody present to shut off the system, “a considerable amount” of water ended up soaking the building, fire officials said.
Crews were called just before 6 a.m. Monday to Sonic Manufacturing at 35 Sagamore Park Road for what the manager originally thought was a broken sprinkler pipe, fire investigator Steve Dube said.
But an investigation by firefighters showed that a fire in a machine in the building activated the sprinkler system sometime between 7 p.m. Saturday and 4:30 a.m.
