NASHUA – The district’s new superintendent evaluation process began Monday night behind closed doors. The new evaluation process was approved by the Board of Education last month, and includes three separate board meetings. The first of those meetings, held Monday, asks Superintendent Mark Conrad to perform a self-evaluation. Conrad presented his findings to board members Monday night. The meeting was held in a nonpublic session and lasted nearly three hours. Next month, the board will hold a special meeting to conduct their own review of the superintendent’s work. A third meeting will be held at the end of September to review the board’s findings with Conrad and set goals with the superintendent for the coming school year. While Board of Education President Robert Hallowell said earlier this month that he was not sure whether any portion of the evaluation would be public, he said he expects the board will share some findings of the superintendent’s evaluation with the public. The information to be released will be discussed with the superintendent. The evaluation will not impact Conrad’s pay, which has increased by only $810 in the past two years, but could have an impact on his contract, since a new one needs to be negotiated this year.
