NASHUA - Eric Gendron scored 16 of his game-high 24 points in the second half Friday night to lead the Merrimack High School boys basketball team to a 63-54 comeback road win over Bishop Guertin.
Gendron had four of Merrimack's six 3-pointers in the third quarter, as the Tomahawks outscored the Cardinals 25-5 in the frame. Shayne Bourque added 18 points, including 6 for 6 from the line, for Merrimack, which trailed by six at halftime.
Bishop Guertin led 33-27 at halftime, as Jeff Lunn scored 15 and Kyle Gavin had 14 in the first half. But the two combined for seven points - all from Lunn - after halftime, as the Cardinals couldn't keep up with Merrimack's outside shooting.
"We were getting pushed around a little bit (in the first half) and we really had to play basketball," Merrimack coach Tim Goodridge said. "Once we started playing basketball and started moving the ball, we played a lot better.
