CONCORD (AP) – New Hampshire’s Attorney General says the 70-year-old woman stabbed to death at a Littleton hotel died of a stab wound to the neck.
Catherine “Kitty” Houghton was a trustee at the White Mountain School in Bethlehem and had travelled from her Novato, Calif., home to New Hampshire board meetings Sunday and Monday.
Prosecutors say 37-year-old Rodney Hill of West Danville, Vt., stabbed her multiple times in the lobby of the Hampton Inn hotel Monday night, in what they called a random act of violence.
Hill is charged with two counts of second-degree murder and is due in court Tuesday for an evidentiary hearing. He is being held without bond.
Houghton was a retired business counselor with the U.S. Commerce Department and a 1960 graduate of the prep school.
