When you tell people you’re taking a class in how to pick locks, you get two reactions:
1. Cool!
2. Is that legal?
The answer to the question, I’m happy to say after two hours fumbling through lessons at Nashua’s MakeIt Labs on Saturday, is yes.
Possession of lockpicking tools is perfectly legal in New Hampshire and most other states, said Tom Williams, the course instructor.
You don’t need to be a licensed locksmith or anything like that.
Using them is legal, too, as long as you’re not doing anything nefarious.
