WILTON – Jim Tuttle went zero for two in his attempt to win a race in the town election. The longtime water commissioner lost his bid for re-election to that seat, but that wasn’t the worst news he got Tuesday night. In his race for selectman, he was trounced by relative newcomer Richard Swanson, who more than doubled Tuttle’s vote total in an election that drew a paltry turnout of 479 voters out of 2,698 registered. Swanson pulled in 323 votes to only 144 for Tuttle. His race for his water commission seat was closer but still a considerable divide: Tuttle got 170 votes to 295 for former Selectman William Condra. After the totals were provided, Tuttle was asked if he wanted to comment. “Not right now, I guess,” he said. In Wilton’s only other contested race – for the Wilton-Lyndeborgh School Board – incumbent Harry Dailey held on to his seat, finishing second in a three-person race with 265 votes, behind Mary Guild who pulled in 325. Nickolas R. Chapo had 115.
