NASHUA – The next Big Day of Serving is less than three months away.
On May 4, from 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m. the faith-based organization that is part of Group Mission Trips, a nonprofit organization hosting short-term mission trips to help kids, students and adults “connect to Jesus while serving people in Christ’s name,” according to its website, will tackle the Tree Streets neighborhood.
Hundreds of volunteers, based locally and from around the region, will work on projects such as painting, home repairs and landscaping, cleaning and beautifying city parks, cleaning vacant lots, community facilities and schools.
Participants kick the day off with a pep rally and live band, then cap it off with a block party including a barbecue and more live music.
Last year, more than 500 volunteers descended on French Hill for the Big Day of Serving.
2013 projects include:
Nashua Police Athletic League: painting, clean up and landscaping
Nashua Soup Kitchen & Shelter: painting, landscaping and clean up
Marguerite’s Place: landscaping, minor construction, painting
Ledge St Elementary School: landscaping, painting, and an outdoor classroom
Los Amigo’s and city skate parks: clean up, landscaping
Nashua River Rail Trail: clean up, community gardens
Residential: clean up, landscaping, painting etc.
Residents in the Tree Street area in need of clean up, landscaping, painting or help with other projects should contact Pattie Chouinard, community director, at 305-3022.
