Nashua Police Officer Michael Dore once banged a puck around as a standout player on Dartmouth, Mass., High School hockey team. On March 16, Dore took to the ice in the sixth-annual Battle of the Badges to raise money for Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock (CHaD). Dore, playing in his fifth Battle of the Badges benefit game, was recognized as the highest fundraiser, with $14,295. That brought his five-year total to more than $50,000. Dore said he continues to be honored to participate in this important charity, of which 100 percent of the proceeds benefit the children and families of CHaD. Dore has played for his CHaD buddy, 6- year-old Hannah Vigeant of Merrimack, for the past three years. Hannah suffers from cystic fibrosis, and over the years Officer Dore has formed a close bond with her and her family. The Battle of the Badges All-Star Hockey Game was presented by AutoFair and held at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester. Police officers and firefighters from throughout New Hampshire played before a crowd of 5,500 people.
