BEDFORD – Drivers on the Everett Turnpike might see some lane closures and rolling roadblocks next week, as work resumes Monday, March 25, on the replacement of the Route 3 bridge over the turnpike. The $11.5 million project, part of ongoing improvements to the Route 3 corridor in the region, started in 2011. The project is supposed to be finished July 4, 2013. The project consists of the design and construction of a new bridge just north of the existing Route 3 bridge over the Everett Turnpike, with a new roadway approach that will tie in at the Target store entrance to the northwest and 500 feet beyond Hawthorne Drive to the southeast. Work to be completed includes removal of the existing bridge, and ledge slope work that will involve blasting, curb installation, islands, sidewalks, and final paving and pavement markings.  The bridge demolition and ledge work will require lane closures and State Police rolling roadblocks on the Turnpike during off-peak hours for several weeks.  E.D.
