Two local skiers competed at the U14 Eastern Regional Championship at Sunday River March 15-17 and qualified for the CanAms, which will be held in Mont-Tremblant, Quebec, March 29-31.
Ashley Humphreys, from Lyndeborough, had an aggressive run for 12th place and 29th-place run to finish 21st overall in the slalom event. Humphreys then had 20th and 33rd place runs in giant slalom for 25th place overall finish in that. Humphreys two best times from both events combined to give her 28th overall, which qualified her to advance to the CanAms.
Giovanni Lazzari, from Mont Vernon, finished fifth in the slalom on his first run and fourth on the second for a combined finish of fourth overall. In the giant slalom, Lazzari was 19th on the first run and 15th on the second to combined for 18th overall.
