HOLLIS – Runners looking for a personal best can turn out for the sixth annual Hollis Fast 5K on Thursday night. The race, organized by the Hollis-Brookline Rotary Club, is a certified 5K gradual downhill course that begins at the Alpine Grove Banquet Facility and winds through the center of Hollis. The course drops 224 feet from start to finish. While state and national records set during the race do not count because of its downhill slope, if a runner beats a record her or she will receive a waived entry into the 2013 race. The race has been featured in the Wall Street Journal and Running Times magazine and has been named the fastest 5K in New England. Money raised by the race goes toward local charities, scholarships for local students and teacher grants. Interested runners can register online until Wednesday . Registration will not be available at the race. Registration costs $35 for adults and $15 for youths 17 and younger. Visit www.hollisfast5K.com for more information and to register for the race. – DANIELLE CURTIS
