WILTON – Fatigue caused a driver to land her minivan in the Souhegan River, police said. Police identified the driver as Karen Carr, 24, of Greenville. Carr’s 1998 Isuzu Rodeo left the southbound lane of Greenville Road (Route 31), traveled down an embankment and landed in about 18 inches of water in the Souhegan River, police said. The accident occurred about 3:46 p.m. on Monday, police said. Carr was transported to St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua with non-life-threatening injuries, police said. Wilton firefighters and N.H. State Police responded to the scene. Firefighters said they were ready to go into the water to rescue the woman, but she was able to open a door and make her way to shore, according to WMUR. Officials said a crew from the state Department of Environmental Services will arrive Tuesday to determine if the vehicle caused any environmental impact to the river. – TELEGRAPH STAFF
