NASHUA – George Russell may have been in a familiar place in the studio at WSMN 1590, but this was no typical recording session for the longtime radio host.
He was recording at night, for one, a far cry from his typical radio sessions that begin when he wakes up at 4 a.m.
And his room was crowded with kids, all nervously giggling, shuffling their papers and, frankly, making more noise than Russell is used to having in his studio.
But he took the changes in stride.
“I may not have kids of my own, but on Wednesdays, I have 30 of them,” he said, laughing.
Russell has been working with the Fairgrounds Middle School drama club for the past several weeks, teaching them about radio and recording, and helping to develop a weekly radio program written and acted out by the students.
Nov. 7 marked the first recording session for the radio show, which airs Sunday nights.
